Canine Myofunctional Therapy
Massage will help a range of different dogs, from puppies through to show dogs, the elderly and dying, those recovering from surgery, shelter dogs and/or those who are suffering form emotional difficulties such as separation anxiety or the abused or neglected.
- Puppies
- Adult dogs
- Working Dogs and Atheletes
- Unwell dogs
- Aging dogs
- Palliative care
Puppies benefit substantially from massage, particularly in the critical socialisation period from 3 weeks to 16 weeks; ongoing massage can be very important for those pups who may be very excitable, overly reactionary, sensitive and/or nervous.
Before and after exercise - athletic dogs require massage to prepare them for work, but also to cool them down afterwards. Tired, overused or unprepared muscles are more likely to injure - a program of myofunctional therapy for your active dog is most beneficial.
Within the parameters of illness, much can be done to assist a dog's wellbeing through massage. It can be used for many conditions, as well as maintaining normal healthy function.
Aging dogs coping with reduced exercise, arthritic change, emerging joint problems, digestive issues, etc, can normally be helped by hands on therapy such as massage. In the case of arthritic change and bony growths, working on the tightened muscles that support these areas will help to prevent further injury and enable reduction in pain that may be present and increase the range of movement of the affected joint.
Guardians providing palliative care to their beloved dogs seek to provide both physical and emotional support. A dog dealing with a life threatening illness, or a non terminal but debilitating condition can find ease through massage.

Gentle Modern Dog Training and Socialisation Solutions
Utilising only positive reinforcement, by designing a program of training and socialisation experiences, Heartbeat can help you to help your dog become calm, happy and responsive to you - thereby enhancing and developing the bond you and your pet share.
We aim to assist you in helping your dog to become well socialised and able to cope in many different situations. Dogs that are exposed to a range of stimuli in a safe and positive way when young, will develop a sound basis for further learning and development.
Older dogs can also be assisted in modifying their behaviour through positive and gentle methods.
*Massage is only ever carried out after appropriate communication with your vet. Massage is a support to your animal's health, and cannot replace required medical care. |
